Making Multi-City Reservations

You can book multi-city flight itineraries with a hotel and car rental in each city. See Starting Your Travel Search for details on how to start a search for a multi-city trip.

After choosing a multi-city itinerary, the Travel page shows three segments (three destinations). The Flight, Hotel, and Car Rental sections of the Travel page are included within the segments. Complete each trip segment separately. If you need additional segments, click Add Another Segment at the bottom of the Travel page.

Click the checkbox next to each service (Flight, Hotel, and Car Rental) in each segment's heading. Once the flight information has been entered for each segment, the hotel and car rental search fields for that segment are populated with information matching the flight.

Tip: To save time, we recommend that you enter your search information for a flight first in each trip segment, before doing the same for a hotel or car rental in the trip segment. Some of the fields for hotel and car rental searching are populated by the flight search information, and search results correspond to the flight.

Tip: Verify the dates and locations before moving to the next segment of the trip to assure they are populating correctly. 

Before making a multi-city reservation, consider the following limitations:

  • After placing the trip on hold or purchasing the multi-city trip, services cannot be added to or changed for the trip. The entire trip must be canceled and re-booked.
  • Not all trips can be placed on hold.
  • Changing or adding other services is not available for multi-city trips.
  • The Book Again feature is not available for multi-city trips.

If you need to make changes after making selections, click the links on the right side of the Trip Review page (see Reviewing the Trip Elements for details). If you need to change only one hotel or car rental, scroll through the hotel or car rental selections to access the one you need to change.

Tip: Remember to add the return home segment when booking a multi-city trip.

Tip: If you fly into an alternate airport – one which is available in the destination city but not the airport requested – the car rental will not adjust to the alternate airport. You must change the original car rental reservation manually. On the Trip Review page, select the appropriate airport location for the car rental pick-up or drop-off location that matches the alternate airport. See Reviewing the Trip Elements for details.
